Editors' Take

We've got a crazy party mixer to start the Labor Day weekend right. We're talking about the electro-stylings of VHS or BETA, free Bass Ale until the last drop runs out, and comped admission! This one's a no-brainer, kids.

VHS or Beta, live

with Walter Meego, Team Robespierre

free with RSVP, $10 without
open Bass Ale bar at 10pm while it lasts

This Thursday, we're headed to Studio B to celebrate the eve of the first day of the last weekend of summer (how's that for an excuse to throw a party), and we've invited various electro- something acts to take the stage for the occasion.

VHS or Beta: Electro-new wavers who have been putting out records for over 10 years, so yeah, you've probably heard of them. Their older stuff was a little too French disco-house for our tastes, but they change up their style a lot, and the new album has this punchy new wave singing mixed with indiesque guitar stuff that ends up sounding like Daft Punk meets Depeche Mode meets the Strokes.

Walter Meego: Electro-house that's on the edge of trippiness --- hopefully not that kind that makes teenage boys dance like hopping monkeys (please don't do this dance at our party).

Team Robespierre: Electro-punk garage band from Brooklyn that makes neighbors from Greenpoint to Bushwick call the cops. Definitely book these guys for your next demolition party.

Finger on the Pulse DJs:  the men behind the proverbial curtain and twin dervishes on decks.

So come out and join us. Also, don't forget to send obnoxious emails  to your friends who already bought tickets to the VHS or Beta show on Wednesday night -- cause our Thursday show is FREE, mofos!  But don't tell them about the Bass Ale open bar -- there's no need to be cruel.

You must RSVP to enter!

No plus ones -- get your bros to RSVP.

Admission is not guaranteed -- first come, first served.

(But let's face it -- it's a 1000-capacity venue...)

First time at the venue and I was blown away. The crowd was cool and the sound was great. Unfortunately the Bass was gone 10 Minutes after 10, but the Miller High Life, "Champagne of beers" helped, and VHS or Beta definitely rocked.
