I RSVPd weeks ago for this on the M.E.A.N.Y. fest website which I was told by M.E.A.N.Y. workers at the show was supposed to somehow automatically place me on the Going.com list, the only list the people at the door were apparently going by, but it didn't put me on the list and I was forced to pay the 10 bucks to get in. I guess the people working the door never heard of anything going wrong with an internet reservation and were completely inflexible. One of them turned out to be the host for the evening so he was on stage introducing the bands. How can I put this? Let's just say he wasn't just a dick at the door. On the upside a M.E.A.N.Y. worker was nice enough to give me a drink ticket when I told her what happened, which wasn't as good as getting my money back, but I guess it was alright. I made sure to get a drink that was probably worth ten bucks there. The only really good band of the night was the band I came out to see, Hello Tokyo. They were the only ones offering anything unique, contemporary and something of their own. The other bands, although mostly competent, sounded like a lot of bands from other decades -- mostly the 80's. I like the 80's as much as the next guy, but isn't M.E.A.N.Y. fest supposed to be about new bands with FRESH sounds?
