Editors' Take

A very special lineup for a very special group of New Yorkers. We've got Blonde Redhead, I'm From Barcelona, The Coydogs and The Rub DJs. Bring water and swimsuits for the slip 'n slide. Or hell, slide naked for all we care.

i'm sorry for all the confusion, the rsvp was to help gauge how close we are to capacity, we always had rsvp as guaranteed entry before 4:30, i'm sorry if anyone had trouble getting into the show but we do have to follow the rules of the parks department as far as capacity, how to deal with lines, what to allow in and when we have to stop allowing guests into the pool.
    Thanks for the great summer,.

I agree. Is it just a way to get e-mail addresses?

I got there at 3:30pm and waited on line for an hour before I got in. For me, that does not fall into the realm of "pretty quickly". Plus, everyone and their younger brother was cutting the line. Then, when we finally get in, we were doubly mad because the pool was barely halfway full, so why the long wait?

Look, I'm appreciative it's a free event, and like all free events in NYC requires waiting and planning ahead. But give me the chance to plan ahead. We missed 3/4 of the set we came to see. So get rid of the bogus pretense of an RSVP line so that people can get there in enough time to get in to see the band(s) they've come to see. Or, instead of calling it an RSVP list, why not call it an "I'm interested" list so there are no hard feelings.

I can guarantee you that at every party I do, I will NEVER let you wait on line. I will even persoanlly come out and walk you in if i have to. My friends and guests NEVER wait in line! Or pay covers!

Yes, relative to its length, the line moved quickly. Relative to, well...time? Not so much. The wait was nearly an hour for me (I got in at 4:45) and for my friends who got in at 4:05pm. I appreciated the preparation that went into planning for the TVOTR concert. Why wasn't the same thought put into this one? Why didn't those who RSVP'd have first entry under any circumstances (ie w/o regard to near capacity)? It would have been courteous to do so.

I hope I get a response from the people who I hold in such high esteem for putting together the greatest party in New York. And you do. The Pool Parties have made my summer ;)

Just some food for thought about keeping the people happy.

Thanks for responding Jelly, but thats NOT TRUE actually because my friend did not get in and she was on the list. There was no communication to the people outside that those on the list they could get in and furthermore they were not aloud in when people came out. it is an awesome event and for that we thank you! but really what is the point in the RSVP???

had we neared capacity at an earlier point in the day(we hit capacity at 6:10) we would have continued to allow those that had RSVPed in, because we didn't have that problem earlier in the day we didn't separate the line it moved pretty quickly , a ton of people got in and it was a fun day, sorry to anyone who didn't get in.
    peace,
