Bistro Ten 18 Celebrates Halloween (Event Over)

This year Bistro Ten 18 is celebrating Halloween by offering a pumpkin choice for almost any part of your dinner from Sunday, October 28 thru Wednesday, October 31. Begin your meal with roasted pumpkin bisque with crème fraîche and chive, followed by pumpkin ravioli with sage cream. in the modd for a cocktail? How about a pumpkin martini? And for dessert, naturally, pumpkin pie.

A litle history for ya: The origins of Halloween in the United States began in the 1840s when the Irish escaping the potato famine brought the holiday to America with them. The Jack-o-Lantern is supposed to have come from an Irish legend about a drunk named Jack who was intent on tricking the devil with a series of pranks. The original story included turnips that held candles to light Jack's way. But the lanterns changed to pumpkins in the United States where pumpkins were apparently more plentiful than turnips at the time.
