Editors' Take

Because if you don't like a free hug, there's something seriously wrong with you.

This is the 1st annual Free Hugs Roam. We will give free hugs to anyone who wants one & roam about the city. "Sometimes, a hug is all that we need."

It's a roam which means we won't be staying there, so make sure you sign up for the text message updates to find out where & when we will be roaming.

Get text message updates: here

There are 2 ways to participate:

Be a Hugger:

  1. Watch the video below.
  2. Make a sign that says "Free Hugs."
  3. Bring your friends.
  4. Make sure they have a sign too.
  5. Silently hold it so people can see it.
  6. Let people approach you.
  7. Hug people.
  8. Don't charge them.

Be a Huggee:

  1. Watch the video below.
  2. Approach someone with a "Free Hugs" sign.
  3. Receive a hug.
  4. Don't pay for it.

In this age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact, the effects of the Free Hugs campaign became phenomenal.

As this symbol of human hope spread accross the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs campaign BANNED. What we then witness is the true spirit of humanity come together in what can only be described as awe inspiring.

Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whos sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.

    Hi all!

Since we don't know who was video taping us (bummer!) I created a video from the pictures we have.

I know it's not the best. It's my first ever and I did it in two days. So, I apolgoize in advance.

It's at the end of the picture section, and on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wayLZBpd6e...

Does anybody know who/where the two groups with the video cameras were from? I'd love to get an actual video up on You Tube!

I was planning to arrive around 4pm to film Free Hugs (as I had promised to do), after working at another event earlier. But when I got no texts about where everyone was, I just headed home instead. Too cold to roam the streets, without knowing where exactly to find you all.
