The Cool Kids bring old-school flavor and an upbeat vibe that's earned them cross-over fans beyond the walls of traditional hip-hop.
On Sunday April 6th, S.O.B.’s Presents hipster hip-hop icons, The Cool Kids , in their first-ever headlining performance in Manhattan, New York. The Cool Kids broke into the public eye in late 2007 as a crossover rap group, attracting fans and media attention in both hip-hop and indie rock circles. They were most recently featured in VIBE’s “Next” (April 2008), and were also selected by Rolling Stone as the “Top 10 Artists to Watch in 2008”. S.O.B.’s has a long-standing reputation for breaking new artists, having helped launch the careers of current hip-hop mega-stars like Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Outkast. On April 6th, The Cool Kids will be the next future stars to add to S.O.B.’s rich legacy.
In less than a year’s time, the Chicago rap duo has built a significant buzz as the newest act to come out of the windy city, following recent the successes of Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco. Though the duo’s style is hard to define, VIBE’s Jon Caramanica described them as “…equal parts formalism and contemporary swagger—the ease of Tribe, the texture of Gang Starr, in the shadow of Pharrell”. Aside from features in Vibe and Rolling Stone , The Cool Kids have also been featured in a multitude of other media outlets including URB, The Fader , Pitchfork and MTV .
