The French New Wave's primary genius gets a well-deserved survey at Film Forum. Breathless, Le Petit Soldat, Two or Three Things I Know About Her, Pierrot Le Fou, A Woman Is A Woman and many more are being featured. While he often gets a bad rap for being overly cerebral--the sort of director grad students get all misty-eyed over--Godard's best work is fine entertainment that doesn't need a Cliff Notes to make sense of.
