Art means a lot of things to a lot of people. To us here at apt, it’s pretty simple.
It’s the unrelenting, unapologetic pursuit of awesome. It’s making someone look at something and say “holy shit” by any means necessary. Its making someone’s head explode with the sheer force of your creativity alone, with no remorse.
Art means never having to say you’re sorry.
As usual, spring time brings to apt a new harvest of amazing talent

Bishop 203- If you’ve ever wanted to hop a train yard and throw a bottom to top burner on an old 6 train, you’ll know where bishop is coming from. An apt virgin, Bishop is already creating a huge buzz, with his dynamic colors and insane technique; he’s ready to take Soho by storm. Little known fact: I recruited bishop on the sheer awesomeness of his business card alone. No bullshit.
Parvez Taj-what can I say about Parvez that Stylehive, 2modern, and Apartment therapy haven’t already said? Only that we snagged him for our show.

Jason Sho Green-This isn’t Jason’s first time around the block here with us at apt, but we do have a first. We’re finally releasing 2 exclusive pieces that up until now haven’t been offered to the public. Behind Being Foxy and Skinned Deep will finally be for sale. You just got a little tingle didn’t you? Y’know…down there?
Bret Reilly- Film maker, Songwriter, sculptor. Bret Reilly does so many things that it’ll make you dizzy. It’s the fact that he does them so goddamn well that makes you want to punch his lights out. Haters beware, Bret will be showing 4 brand new pieces that resonate with that whimsically unique style that he’s made all his own.

Stuart Ross- three words. Gigantic Fucking Sword. Stuart Ross, after a short hiatus from the apt family returns to the fold. With his Kinetic/electric sculpture, and new “Weapons of mass attraction” series, Stuart will be taking over the apt Back Room, where DJ Ian Jackson will be spinning all night, and if last show was any indication, fending off the attention of intoxicated young ladies.

David Rhoden-David is a special exception. He emailed me one day and was like “Hey I was at your last opening, and loved it! Can I show you some of my stuff?” And I was like “sure, yea, whatever.” Then all of a sudden, my email filled up with giant luchador heads and talking toast, and, naturally I asked him to marry me. David’s pieces bring artistic style, and the hand cut craftsmanship of a skilled carpenter. And come on. You know you were sold at “giant luchador head.”
Hulbert Waldroup- Say that three times fast. A Soho staple, Hulbert takes pop culture to a whole new level. With towering pieces, featuring beautiful gigantic women, just begging you to challenge them. Kind of like Williamsburg roller derby girls, only artsier. Oh. He also wears a bitchin cowboy hat. If you know how to whistle the theme to the good the bad and the ugly, please do so now.

Vesper Jewelry- Jessi Frenkle of Vesper Jewelry will be again gracing us with her one of a kind custom pieces, with both the Stormy weather and Fujisan pendants making a reappearance.
Nicholas Furrow- Nicholas, fresh off of Brooklyn Design Week will be masterfully lighting the front room in contrast to Stuart Ross’s ambient back room. With his amazingly popular lights such as the Alchemist, and the Skyscraper, Nick Brings form and function to a bright new union.
As usual there will be free wine/cocktails, Great music courtesy of resident DJ Ian Jackson (formerly of Soundminds) and if last party was any indication, no end to the piles and piles of attractive, intelligent, slightly intoxicated people.
as always, informal afterparty at Circa Tabac.

Making art a little less pretentious since 2005
