Editors' Take

Adam Freeland is better known as a member of Soulwax, the impossibly influential UK dance act that's swinging through NYC this week. Throw in no cover with RSVP and an open beer bar starting at 10 p.m., and you have the recipe for an achingly awesome Thursday night.

Thursday August 7
Cheeky B*stard Presents
ADAM FREELAND
ONE MAN PARTY (A.K.A. STEVE OF SOULWAX)

Adam Freeland... will be DJing for us at Hiro Ballroom this Thursday.
Hailing from the UK, Adam has earned a reputation as the world's most popular breakbeat DJ - but it is his ability to fuse electro, funk, house, hip-hop, rock (among other musical styles) which sets him apart as one of the most consistently entertaining electronic artists out there.
He has remixed The Doors (by personal request), The Prodigy, The Orb, KIM, Nirvana, Marilyn Mason and many others... he as produced a number of mix complilations for Fabric, Global Underground and the 'Back To Mine' series (among others) and his production work (such as his classic hit 'We Want Your Soul') is just great.
Every single time we have seen this guy DJ, he has totally killed it (in a good way) ... we are very proud to have him, and we are looking forward to this show with fevered anticipation...

And if Adam isn't enough for you, Steve of Soulwax (A.K.A. One Man Party) will also be spinning a set... Along with Alex English & Peter Makebish.

yeah the asian dude at the door was chatting up some chic for ages completely ignoring the long line of people waiting to get in. plus after all that waiting he basically said the going.com guest list was closed justifying that 'everyone in nyc knows rsvp doesn't guarantee anything' i agree but then don't use 'free with rsvp' as your marketing scheme if you can't deliver! thats the end of hiro and cheeky bastard parties for me

it still turned out to be a fun night... we ditched hiro and went to 205 chrystie for the one night stand/minou party. the deejay in the basement was playing some wicked bassline and techno and the girls were dancing kinky as fcuk!

I agree wiht "J", FALSE advertising. Me and my two friends arrived at 1 am which should be perfectly fine as long as we're all on a guestlist and there's no door policy. Apparently there was a guy/girl ratio (which is hilarious, Hiro was a hot spot... 3 years ago). We were denied entrance by one of the worst doormen i've ever encountered. He immediately raised his voice as i asked a couple of simple questions about the guestlist, and almost started yelling at us in the end. Whoever arranged this, if you want to keep a crowd you'd better straight these issues out.
