Check-Out Hunger (Event Over)

   Help feed hungry New Yorkers through your local supermarket. Through January, supermarkets in the five boroughs are partnering with the Food Bank For New York City for Check-Out Hunger, an annual supermarket-based fundraising effort that enables shoppers to make a difference in their community.

Every $5 donation through Check-Out Hunger helps the Food Bank provide enough food for 25 meals to New Yorkers in need.

Here's How it Works:
In Store:
1. Select a coupon — in denominations of $1, $3 and $5 — located at the supermarket check-out counter.
2. Hand the coupon to the check-out clerk who will scan your donation. Each coupon has a UPC bar code just like all the items in your shopping cart.
3. Your tax-deductible donation will appear on your grocery receipt. It's that easy!

More than 100 stores from leading supermarket chains and specialty markets joined the 2008 Check-Out Hunger effort, providing shoppers an easy, convenient way to help alleviate hunger.  Including:
