Punk Rope Olympics (Event Over)

THE FIRST ANNUAL PUNK ROPE OLYMPICS
Saturday, May 16
2:00pm to 4:00pm
McCarren Park, Softball Field #2 (enter the park at Bedford Ave north of 12th St across from the Automotive High School)

Opening Ceremonies 2:00 pm – 2:10 pm
Competition 2:10 pm – 4:00 pm
Awards Ceremony & Picnic 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

OPENING CEREMONIES
Teams will be introduced to their adoring fans. Teams should look like teams. Color-coded outfits are a plus. Cute flags and mascots are encouraged.

THE COMPETITION
Up to ten 4-person teams will be competing for the Punk Rope cup. The 8 events are listed below.

THE EVENTS
The competition will consist of 8 events (see below). Each team can only have one entry per event. More details can be found on the registration page at www.punkrope.com. Click on Olympics; then click on “more details”

Individual Events
1. Double Trouble: the most double unders in one minute.
2. Cross Boss: the most criss-cross jumps in one minute.
3. Furry Fling: shot put a lovable stuffed animal as far as possible.

Partner Event
4. Partner Punk-ups: most push-ups with a playground ball suspended between foreheads

3-Person Event
5. Human Chariot: 3-person carry (everybody takes a turn being carried)

Full Team Events
6. Knitting Circle Jerks: hold hands, squat to ground, return to standing, high five
7. Punkpourri Relay: 4 gait relay (skip, 1-legged hop, broad jump, backward jog)
8. Rubber Chicken Relay: all out sprint with rubber chicken as the baton

EVENT SCORING
1st place = 11 points
2nd place = 8 points
3rd place = 5 points

OFFICIATING
We still need one or two judges to officiate certain events. If interested, email tim@punkrope.com

AWARDS CEREMONY & POST-EVENT PICNIC
The awards ceremony and picnic will immediately follow the competition. The picnic is BYO with sharing encouraged. In the case of inclement weather the ceremony and celebration will be moved to a nearby watering hole (probably the Turkey’s Nest at Bedford & 12th).
