Directions by TRAIN: Take the F, J, M, or Z to Essex / Delancey and walk south on Essex two blocks, make a right on Grand Street and enter at 350 Grand.

Open Road Rooftop offers free art, literacy, music, and skateboarding events, classes, and film screenings in one of New York’s great undiscovered rooftop spaces. The building that once housed Seward Park High School is now home to many schools, including New Design High School, Lower Manhattan Arts Academy, Essex Street Academy, Academy of Government and Law, and Dual Language/Asian Studies. Street artist have painted this magnificent space with dozens of extraordinary graffiti murals, and skateboarders have custom built ramps, pyramids, wall rides and banks that make Open Road Roof a truly unforgettable place to skateboard, play, watch films, read and do art. The rooftop area is being revitalized through the efforts of Open Road of New York, a group founded in 1990 to work with children, teenagers, and adults on outdoor environmental projects.
